Using a Real Estate Agent

DON’T!  -  Unless you are the vendor

Most people when they sell their home or investment property, will use the services of a licenced real estate agent.

They sign a vendor agreement.  This agreement sets out that the real estate agent is bound to act in the best interests of the vendor.  They are representing the vendor.  They are trying to get the best price.

A Real estate agent will be friendly to a buyer for two main reasons:

  1. To find out as much as possible about the buyer to help negotiate the highest possible price
  2. The buyer might have a home to sell

A real estate agent will not and can not act for the buyer.  They would be in breach of their contract with the vendor.
