Sydney property prices?

For 2008, the most asked question has been - so what is happening in the Sydney Market? Well, what I can say is that it is not as bad as what the media is portraying and the prices are not falling at the same rate as the UK and US markets. Some pockets are experiencing a decline in prices, however these falls seem to be more fear and media driven than cold hard financial reasons. Sure there are some distressed sales (sales directed by the vendor designed to avoid a mortgagee in possession sale) occuring but they only represent a small number of the current sales.

I don't work in the outer suburbs, so my comments only relate to the markets my clients buy in.

The Sydney property market needs to be broken up into different suburbs and different types of properties within these suburbs to understand what is happening in the market you are interested in buying in to.
