Property Settlement

The property settlement process begins after the contract is signed and exchanged.

Before the contracts are exchanged, the terms of the contract can be negotiated. One of these terms is the length of the settlement period.

As a guide, the standard settlement period is 6 weeks. In most cases, this is enough time for the solicitors to perform the conveyancing process.

Please make sure you are able to inspect the property the day before settlement. You want to make sure it is in the same condition as when you exchanged contracts.
