Double Bay is an exclusive harbourside suburb with boutique shops and restaurants.

Area lifestyle

Double Bay is located 4.5km from the city.

Originally called “Keltie Bay” after the master of the First Fleet vessel HMS “Sirius”, the suburbs current name evolved because of the pair of bays on its northern harbour foreshore.

Double Bay is an eclectic mix of architecture and design. Due to the influence of different cultures and the wealth of the demographic, the architecture has always been considered cutting edge.

The 1920’s and 30’s were the growth years for Double Bay with the bulk of its stylish apartments and elegant bungalows being built. In the 60’s it swiftly developed into Sydney’s most fashionable shopping precinct. These days Double Bay’s glamour remains untarnished with its superb shopping, lovely food and elegant accommodation drawing an upper class demographic to the area which is reflected in the area’s property median prices.

Double Bay is conveniently located close to the city with access to buses, train at Edgecliff station and 15 mins on a ferry into the city.
